Fresh, clean air is not something we get enough of in today’s modern life, especially as most of us seem to be stuck inside with our great British weather ( apart from couple of heat waves a year, but even then we hide inside an air-conditioned office and happily do overtime ).

The fact is the air quality in our homes can be surprisingly bad thanks to modern synthetic materials and temperature regulation; it also contains pollutants and is often well below recommended humidity levels.

Synthetic furniture, paint, chemicals from cleaners and all electric gadgets pump chemical vapours into the air, heating system dries out the air. It all leads to us complaining about allergies, asthma, headaches and thickly coughs.

This is where plants can help! Certain houseplants can actually clean the air in your home or office; they work hard at cleaning our air of the toxins and realising humidity back. The studies show that plants help us to have fewer headaches and feel less tired, have fewer allergy symptoms, recover faster from common cold, feel less stressed and be more productive and creative if you work from home or in the office.

What plants should you put in your interiors to make a difference to the air you are breathing?
