KITCHEN HANDLES : Different possibilities

We tend to spend loads of time designing the perfect, most functional kitchens. Carefully choosing materials, multi functional furnishings and original solutions. Every little detail is carefully designed to meet the needs of modern life and living spaces.
One of the most complicated and probably the most neglected is the choice of the handles, or the handles system kitchen system.
a
The handles system

The handles system allows to open the cabinets and drawers door directly from the groove at the top or on the side of the door.

The handles system is then the solution for an aesthetically clean and compact kitchen, improving the perception of design and permitting the finishing to stand out.

The aesthetics purity reflects itself also in the functionality of the kitchen: the door without handle is easier to clean because the surface is compact and flat, with no interruptions.

We suggest this one to people looking for a minimal design, as well as to the ones with a very small kitchen or to the messy ones.

 The handle

If the handles door is perfect for minimal kitchen, the ones loving the details will choose the handle; and there is endless options and types of handles to go for.

c

You can chose from standard handles in different shapes and finishes to handles at the top of the door.

Integrated handle

Integrated handles, the perfect collection for the lover of details and the research design: the handle is evident, but is also a fine decoration

d

img_12

e

If your home has a definite style, it’s required to follow it even in the choice of the handle. While, if your home doesn’t have a clear style, then pick the handle that becomes a main feature.

As usual the design is fundamental: never choose a handle at the end, but rather during the process of design.

You must consider your habits, your individual taste and the characteristics of the kitchen!

So, make a good choice!

If your kitchen need an update, come and talk to one of our designers! We will help you make a decision and create a kitchen you always dreamt of.

Back To School

Fun and functional homework space

Making your child’s room a place that inspire their creativity and play is very important to their development and growth.

Kids want to learn in every possible way they can, here are some kid’s workspace ideas and main points to consider when designing a room that will help inspire them to commit to those homework’s, even the ones we have trouble helping them with.

1.Location

Think about where you going to set up a working space, consider how your kids focus best, if they get distracted easily, perhaps a quite spot could become the new study area.

workspace

2. Get creative

When designing your children’s bedroom, colourful and personalised elements can be easily missed out on in favour of functionality, Think about what your child’s passions are. Personalise their space making it sparks with creativity.

With Nidi Teens collection you can create endless number of arrangements to transform the space.

3.The ideal desk and chair

Children are most definitely faster and springier than we are, however ergonomics are extremely important to their growing bodies. Make sure you pick the right desk and chair to provide a comfortable space. To determine the perfect height of the chair your child’s feet are supposed to be flat on the floor while sitting, with knees at 90 degrees angle.

Check out our favourite children’s furniture brand – Nidi for desks and chairs available in different modularity and colours.

deskdesk spacechair

4.Storage

Keep the clutter to a minimum! It is a lot harder to concentrate when kid’s workspace is strew with unnecessary objects. Keep it to a minimum and use storage options to leave the desk tidy and organised.

The more storage that you can get into children’s room, the less it creeps into the rest of your home. We can advise you on best storage options to fit in your space, from shelves and wall units, chest of drawers to sideboards.

Shades of black: Kitchen interior trend 2018

Black in furnishing

Use of dark colours in interior design has become extremely successful after being presented during the Milan Design Week 2018. For years Nordic style has been stealing consumer’s hearts and now in combination with a range of dark colours; from intense browns to deep blues, from greys in to the shades of total black it continues to meet designers taste.

Black: complete, fundamental, sophisticated  and elegant. In character with those who love to dare. It is not easy to use, especially in furniture , but if introduced to your interior in correct way it can transform the atmosphere of your room enhancing it with sophistication that darker shades naturally possess.

It is the common perception, that black is associated with darkness: therefore because of its intensity it is often used in accessories or small furniture, often combined with lighter colours that make it appears weaker. It is perhaps the fact that we are afraid it will make our space look smaller and dim.

In fact, when using black wisely it can give your interior a touch of character and sharpness. More popular in industrial and vintage style interior, dark colour can give your space strong identity symbolising power, respect and authority. Perfect in modern interior with minimal furniture, also combined with white colour creates a timeless look.

Aliant-light

Black according to Feng Shui

The Feng Shui is a practice of Chinese and Tibetan origin, very ancient tradition. According to Feng Shui, the harmony of man depends on the balance. It states that the layout of the room and furnishings as well as the colours that dress them, must response to precise rules in order to create a calm environment that maximizes the well-being of those who live there.

Black adds depth to an environment and fills the space with energy: it is therefore suitable for furnishing rooms where the activity is dynamic, such as kitchen which is the centre of the house. It’s not advised to be used in  areas dedicated to relaxation and rest.

What to consider if you want a dark kitchen

One of the most important factors  to keep in mind when planning to use black in the kitchen is BALANCE. It is necessary to evaluate the size and shape of your room as well as lighting as black or in facts any very dark tint can dominate the entire environment.

If the kitchen area is a small space, using dark kitchen furniture will make it cramped, it is therefore advised to use light colour, only adding few black details. If however the kitchen is generous, choosing dark colour will make a great impact on your space and positively impress your guests. Black imply refined and luxurious style, especially when accompanied by lights that define its contours and enhance its depth. The black kitchen with appropriately positioned lights will appear scenographic.

As well as the aesthetic advantages, black kitchen also has other benefits: it needs little maintance, due to dark colours being very resistant and in opaque finish also masks the fingerprints, therefore the kitchen becomes much more functional and easy to clean.

The Aliant kitchen presented by STOSA is a perfect example of a dark kitchen enhanced by light colours. The pantry with opaque black glass doors and the window with brushed black frame doors and semi-transparent grey glass perfectly match the central island in HPL Argilla finish.  What STOSA created is a strong, elegant and extremely functional kitchen.

Aliant

In order to make the dark kitchen less impactful we suggest the trick of using light or bright colours as shown in the Metropolis kitchen. Use of black with combination of Pet Grau and Cool Grey Pet balancing the colour, creating a dynamic composition.

Metropolis

Alternatives to dark kitchens

For those afraid to use black in the kitchen, the shades of grey are a great compromise, they are elegant and at the same time timeless.  STOSA Newport kitchen is a classic- contemporary look that blends two shades of grey; the lighter Girgio Piacenza lacquered finish of the hood wall units and the island, the darker colour Gray Partridge Ash use in base units and frame columns.

Newport

Wide range of STOSA kitchens makes it possible to find your perfect composition, designed for different lifestyles and to meet different tastes and needs. Everyone can find the kitchen that best reflects their character by innovation, functionality, ergonomics and a quality that lasts over time.

The new model of STOSA kitchen soon will be on our display in our Cambridge showroom. Come and see one of kitchen designers if you are planning on upgrading your kitchen. We can advise you on the colour and finish to create your perfect space in time for Christmas celebrations.  Visit our showroom at 132 Newmarket Road, Cambridge, CB5 8HE
